Although some of what I have got is from the forums and from watching other people some of this stuff is what I have worked out for myself, and as soon as lots of people start using tricks like this the OMs will change the brigand AI so that they no longer work.

Obviously there is a lot of stuff here people will know already, i'll just put as much i as i know.

Important things to learn first

Moves:

Blue - Left turn - Left click the box

Orange - Right turn - Right click the box

Green - Straight click the box twice with either mouse button i.e. two right clicks or two left clicks.

Shooting / Grappling

To Shoot click the mouse once on the shoot section

To Grapple click twice

The order you should put your moves down

Always put your grapples down first, as they cannot be seen on the bar above your ship, next put your shots down (not so important pvp but important against Imperials so its good to get into the habbit) as this will no let your oppent know where you plan to move, finally put your moves down, aim to place you moves at the last possible second in all battles as it doesn't let your opponent know where you plan to move.

Learn wirpools

This is crucial; the whirlpool moves your ship around the whirlpool to the opposite side and rotates your ship clockwise at the same time. Try to use them to your own advantage.

I hope this completely explains whirlpool behavoir as you can see the other ship remains stationary so then by using the position of the cannon balls hopefully you can work out where the ship goes.

Strategy

Always try to get behind the ships to hit them, this is their weak spot, without the assitance of whilpools winds etc. it will take them at least 4 moves to get back to hit you.

Happy b-navving!

Things I learned from Mac:

The game inputs things like this each turn Move - Wind/Pool - Cannon/Grapple. This comes in handy when you want to get out of a whirlpool or you want to move and then shoot on the same turn.

Whirlpools always work like this - whatever square you enter at, you'll be moved to the one across diagonally, with a 90 degree rotation clockwise (sorry Scots those are his big words, not mine).

Knowing the above doesn't mean you'll be great at bnav (I'm proof of that) but it is helpful when you're starting out.

Well, that's why I gun a lot: to watch the bnavvers. I also watch the blockades/flotillas when my sibs are on but yet, I still can't figure out the reason for what they're doing.

One thing that helped my bnav alot was that my SO at the time used to take turns during pillages.

Like say ab did first then shadow or blue would go i would get a shot too at it and it really boosted my confidence working with such reliable crewbies.

I'm only a tell a way,Cant say i'm the best but will have fun if you job me <3
